Greenvelope lets you add custom questions to your wedding RSVP, so guests answer them at the same time they reply. Custom questions are the usual way to collect meal choices, song requests, dietary restrictions, and which parts of the wedding weekend each guest can attend. In the Greenvelope editor these are labeled Survey Questions, and the options are close to endless while the setup stays simple and intuitive.
How do I add custom questions to a wedding RSVP?
Step 1: Click the "Details" step.
Step 2: Click the "RSVP Page" section.
Step 3: Click the "Add a New Question" button in the "Survey Questions" section.
Repeat for each question you want to ask. There is no separate wedding setting to turn on, the same Survey Questions section handles every Greenvelope event.
Where do custom questions appear on your wedding RSVP page?
Custom questions appear on the guest's Greenvelope RSVP page immediately after the guest selects a response status. Each answer is saved to that guest's record, so meal choices and other responses stay attached to the RSVP.
Types of custom questions
Type A: Dropdown menu, for example adults vs. children
Type B: Radio buttons, for example meal preference
Type C: Checkboxes, for example sub-event tracking
Type D: Free response, for example song requests
What questions should you ask on a wedding RSVP?
The custom questions wedding hosts add to a Greenvelope RSVP most often are:
- Meal choice, as a radio button question listing each entree
- Dietary restrictions or allergies, as a free response question
- Song requests, as a free response question
- Sub-event attendance, as a checkbox question covering the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, or day-after brunch
- Adults vs. children, as a dropdown question
- Notes to the couple, as a free response question
How do I collect meal choices with an online wedding RSVP?
Add a radio button question named Meal Preference and list each entree as an answer option. Guests pick one when they RSVP in Greenvelope, and every response is tracked with that guest's RSVP so you can review the totals at any time. Because each answer is stored on the guest record, you can hand your caterer an accurate count without chasing anyone by email.
Can guests RSVP for the rehearsal dinner and reception separately?
Yes. Add a checkbox question listing each part of the wedding weekend and let guests check the ones they will attend. Their selections are saved to the guest record alongside the main RSVP, so you can pull a headcount for the rehearsal dinner, the reception, or a day-after brunch from the same guest list.
Where do the answers go?
Every custom question answer is saved to the guest's record in Greenvelope and appears alongside their RSVP status. You can review responses at any time as guests reply, and export the full set when you need it.
